Hyderabad: Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu and Telangana State Chief Minister K
Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday visited Medaram and participated in Asia’s biggest biennial tribal
fair – Sammakka-Saralamma jatara in Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli district of Telangana.
Mr. Naidu offered puja to the tribal deities–Sammakka and Saralamma– at the forest village, Medaram,
the venue of the Jatara which was preceded by elaborate tribal rituals.
CM KCR announces Rs 200 crore more for Medaram Jatara
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday announced Rs 200 crore more for providing
permanent facilities at the abode of Sammakka and Saralamma, the tribal deities worshipped biennially
as part of the Medaram Jatara.
Addressing the media, CM KCR said “Medaram Jatara is the Kumbh Mela of South” and it deserved the tag of national festival. Despite our representations to the Centre, it was not considered yet.There should
better facilities for the devotees taking a holy dip in Jampanna Vagu, he stressed.
