Wishing a long life for PM Modi and CM Fadnavis, Shiv Sena said in its official mouth-piece Saamana that it’s time that the chief minister is given security like the one provided by Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.
New Delhi: Terming the assassination plot of Prime Minister Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister
Devendra Fadnavis a “thrilling horror story”, Shiv Sena said on Monday that such information often does
rounds ahead of elections.
Wishing a long life for PM Modi and CM Fadnavis, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party said in its official
mouth-piece Saamana that it’s time that the chief minister is given security like the one provided by
Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.
Sena’s comments comes days after Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress called the threat letter
a tactic to garner support for Modi.
The party further said, “The revelation by the agencies of threat to Fadnavis is nothing less than a
thrilling plot of a horror story.”
In a veiled attack, the Shiv Sena further said, “It is okay if lakhs are killed, but the saviour of
lakhs has to live.”
Sena said that the trend of ‘exposing’ such news ahead of elections is worrisome. “The matter is being
politicised and this is condemnable,” the editorial in Saamana said.
A letter discussing a plot to assassinate PM Modi on the lines of former PM Rajiv Gandhi’s killing sent shivers
in the political circles on Friday. The letter found at the house of one of the five persons arrested
over “links” with CPI (Maoist) talks about the ultras mulling “another Rajiv Gandhi type incident
” to end the Modi regime at the Centre, Pune police told a court on Thursday.
Police have arrested Dalit activist Sudhir Dhawale, lawyer Surendra Gadling, activists Mahesh Raut and
Shoma Sen and Rona Wilson from Mumbai, Nagpur and Delhi, respectively, in connection with ‘Elgar
Parishad’ held in Pune in December and the subsequent Bhima-Koregaon violence in the district.
The letter found in Rona Wilson’s house in Delhi also talks about requirement of Rs 8 crore to procure
M-4 rifle and four lakh rounds, prosecutor Ujjwala Pawar told the court. News agency ANI reported that
the letter also threatens an attacks on Fadnavis’s family.
