Jaya’s Poes Garden residence will be converted into a museum
Tamil Nadu caretaker Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, On Thursday, issued executive orders to convert former chief minister Jayalalithaa’s residence at Poes Garden into an “Amma Memorial.
This comes at a time of an escalating war of attrition between Panneerselvam and VK Sasikala over the control of the AIADMK party and government.
According to TOI, Speaking to mediapersons on Thursday soon after AIADMK presidium chairman E Madhusudhanan joined his camp, Panneerselvam said: “The memorial will contain all things which belonged to Jayalalithaa, and generations of people can them.”
“The museum will bring several memories about Amma,” OPS said as his supporters shouted in joy.
Number 81, Veda Nilayam, Poes Garden, has been symbolic with the weight of political power for the last 25 years.
The property was acquired by Jayalalithaa and her mother Sandhya in 1967 for Rs 1.32 lakh.
The 24,000 sqft bungalow in Chennai city is estimated to be worth Rs 90 crore.
