Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s statement at the recent India Today conclave that his party would welcome the proposal for making Hyderabad as the second capital of the country appears to have no takers in Telangana itself.
Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram has strongly reacted to KCR welcoming the move to designate Hyderabad as the second capital of India.
“We strongly oppose any such move or idea, as it would only benefit the Andhra people and hit the interests of the Telangana in the capital city,” he said.
He reminded that during the agitation for separate Telangana, the proposal to make Hyderabad city second capital of the country came up before the Sri Krishna Commission. But it was rejected outright.
Even the Telangana Rashtra Samithi had strongly opposed on the ground that it was the conspiracy of the Andhra people.
“But now that the TRS has come to power, KCR has welcoming the proposal only for the benefit of Andhra people. Hyderabad was the capital of Telangana and will have to be of Telangana alone,” Kodandaram said.
Alleging that the state government was giving priority to the Telangana traitors while conveniently ignoring those who for Telangana, he accused the government of not coming to the rescue of farmers who are struggling to get remunerative prices for their produces and also for not providing crop insurance to farmers.
